Organizing 4 Education (O4ed) Organizer Program Winter 2024-2025
Organizing for Education (O4ed) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to work in the public forum around the issues that affect public education and public school educators and other school professionals, engaging stakeholders to help strengthen the goals of O4ed partners.
O4ed is currently hiring Organizers and Lead Organizers who will assist with implementing our mission under the direction of the O4ed Program Manager. If you are interested in a position, please submit your name for consideration by filling out the interest form.
In addition to training and planning meetings, organizers will be expected to complete a minimum of five hours of member-to-member contact per week during eight of the twelve weeks between December 9th, 2024 and March 9th, 2025.

O4ed Organizer Job Description
Organizer shall assist the O4ed in the following areas:
Prepare for and hold authentic, in-depth one on one conversations under the direction of the O4ed Program Manager. These conversations may occur over the phone or VOIP, text exchange, or in person. All organizers are expected to be comfortable across modalities.
Engage in “deep” organizing conversations on workplace issues and political issues affecting school policy and school employees by exhibiting the following practices:
Asking open-ended questions;
Active listening; and,
Moving members towards action in support of campaign goals.
Submit reports that tracks data on hours worked, organizing conversations held, and key information including but not limited to:
Issues of interest identified;
Questions for follow up;
Update contact information including home email address and cell phone number; and
Participate in program decision-making with other organizers working on the O4ed Program.
Attend and participate in training, planning and debrief meetings, which may occasionally be in-person.
Attend meetings to build relationships with other organizers.
Assist with follow-up to conversations which includes providing resources that result in furthering O4ed goals.
All organizers must have access to a smart phone with a calling, text and data plan; and access to a device (smartphone, tablet or desktop) with the ability to run other applications required by the O4ed program, such as MiniVan and Paychex Flex.
O4ed Lead Organizer Job Description
In addition to the above listed responsibilities, Lead Organizers will be responsible for:
Providing training and mentorship in all of the above areas;
Planning and leading trainings and debriefs; and,
Contributing operational and strategic guidance and feedback to the Program Manager.
Lead Organizers should expect to average at least ten hours of work per week.
Compensation
Employees shall receive hourly wages, expected to be between $26/hr and $28/hr for Organizers and approximately $35/hr for Lead Organizers, and reimbursement for mileage and expenses incurred as part of completing assigned duties.
